A GLORIOUS DAY FOR ARLESEY ...

It all started with a carnival procession. It was Saturday 1st June 2002 and frankly we couldn’t have asked for better weather! Floats and walkers assembled at Biggs Wall at 1pm and got ready for an inspection by the judges, Cllr June Harrowell and village correspondent, Derek Ambler.

2pm and the carnival sets off. The route is along High Street, passed the War Memorial, along Church Lane as far as St Peters Ave where floats and walkers separate. The floats proceed to Stotfold Road and then turn into House Lane. Walkers take the short cut along St Peters. Floats and walkers are reunited at the roundabout opposite the new housing development on the former Chilfen site. The carnival comes back along the High Street as far as the Rec.
